WOA 100: Job Development & Marketing

Please join us for thorough overview of the essential functions of marketing and customized job development for employment support professionals who work with job seekers with IDD. This course gives employment specialists the values, confidence, and skills they need to work with the business community to develop win-win employment opportunities meeting the needs of the job seekers they serve and the businesses that hire them.


Designed to engage, inspire and activate your abilities, the course consists of pre-course readings, a series of webinars, reading assignments, offline skill building activities and course discussion forum participation.

Meet the Trainers

Jenny Crook, Wise, Senior Training & TA Manager


Jenny Crook (she/her) has been in the field of employment since 2013, with roles as a job coach, employment consultant, and employment program manager. She obtained a BS in Sociology from Portland State University, with a concentration in Women’s Studies. 

 

As a Senior Training & Technical Assistance Program Manager at Wise, Jenny trains for the Job Development and Marketing course of the WOA 100 Series, coordinates the WOA 200 Series, co-leads the Wise Webinar Series, and provides hosting support for a variety of events. As a person-centered planning facilitator, Jenny focuses on solutions when collaborating with partners in Washington and other states in the pursuit of equitable employment for all.

 

Nationally, Jenny served on the ACRE Board for five years, most recently in the position of Clerk. She has presented at conferences including APSE and Pac Rim on topics related to person-centered planning and customized employment best practices. 

Beyond the professional realm, Jenny enjoys reading dystopian novels, thrift shopping for treasures, cats, and adventuring with her husband.

Charly Walters, Wise, Senior Training & TA Manager



Charly came to Wise with a passion for supported employment, which she has developed with over a decade of experience providing employment services to job seekers in King & Spokane Counties, and job training to students managing dual diagnoses. At Wise, Charly is passionate about working with Spokane businesses on the HireAbility Spokane initiative, which focuses on business-to-business networking, events, and marketing. She loves to teach employers about Supported Employment, lead them to create modified positions, and matching them with eager job seekers. 


Charly is a member of the Wise Online Academy (WOA 100) Job Development & Marketing training team and enjoys utilizing her past and current experience to share best practices. Charly has experience providing Technical Assistance to agencies and businesses on Job Development topics and has played an integral part in the City of Spokane’s Supported Employment Program. Charly currently serves as a lead for the Wise Webinars & the Wise Website team and has experience with virtual & hybrid event hosting.  She considers herself lucky to be able to support a handful of Eastern Washington counties with their work providing DD services, training, and support to individuals, families and schools.


Charly was very excited to earn her SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Management – Certified Professional certificate) this spring, and previously graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
